AWARD FOR BRAVERY

GREEK DECORATION AUCKLAND STAFF OFFICER An Auckland officer, Captain H. G. Wooller, New Zealand Staff Corps, was recently decorated for bravery with the Greek War Cross. The citation stated that it was awarded for inspiring leadership, courage and self-sacrifice. The decoration was conferred in Egypt by the Greek Minister of War, in the presence of Greek troops, Captain Wooller now being attached to a Greek brigade in the Middle East.

Captain Wooller is a son of Mr. H. •T. Wooller, headmaster of Point Chevalier school. He was educated at Pon.sonby school, the Thames High School and Auckland Grammar School, and was later selected to attend a course at Sandhurst Military College. On passing out from there, he was attached for a short time to the Bull's Regiment at Aldershot. When he returned to New Zealand, he was posted to the Staff Corps, and served successively as adjutant of the Ist Battalions of the Auckland and North Auckland Regiments, being area officer at Wliangarei on the outbreak of war.
