NETHERLANDER REJECTED

Sir,' —My son, aged 18. enrolled in the general reserve and duly received his card ot acknowledgment and passed the medical examination. He has since had to return bis card to the National Service Department which stated that he had been enrolled in error, be not being eligible for the forces because he is not a natural-born British subject. My son was born in the Netherlands East Indies. He received his secondary education at two colleges in New Zealand and matriculated in 19.'!!). His mother and I have resided in New Zealand since ISM 6. His mother was born in England and 1 was born in Holland. Having regard to the fact that the Dutch are giving all possible support to England at present it would appear that the Department's action is peculiar. Naturally my son feels his position very keenly as to all intents and purposes he might as well be classed as an alien enemy. Nktiikki.anijhr.
