DESERTION FROM SHIP

GREASER SENT TO PRISON A charge of deserting from his ship at Auckland was preferred against Olaf Andersen, greaser, aged 33, before Mr. F K. Hunt, S.M., yesterday. Accused said be had been steadily "on the go" with no respite since the evacuation of Dunkirk. He had saved a few pounds and had come ashore to enjov the "bright lights.'' While he knew that his ship was sailing he did not know the time and when he went to join it he found it had gone. All his money and possessions were 011 board. ( Accused was sentenced to 14 days imprisonment.
