CLUB COMPETITIONS CHAMPIONSHIPS AT PUPUKE Pupuke.—The first round of a 3G-hole medal competition for the president's prize was played by members of the Pupuke Club. The best cards returned were:—P. VV. Cantwell S3, 12—71; V. Oborn. 89, 17—72; B. Durham, 82, 9—73; W. G. Skelton, 85, 12 —73. C. H. Palmer beat L. H. Saunders, 1 up, in the third round for the captain's prize. E. A. Carson beat W. E. King, 4 and 3, in the first round for the Pupuke Cup. Following is the order of qualifying for the club championships:—Senior: J. Drought, C. H. Palmer, E. A. Carson, X. P. Coleman, G. M. Trustcott, A. J. Randrup, D. Ingham, R. Durham, L. H. Saunders, R. Mulligan, R. S. King, V. C. Oborn, IX S. Lamb, W. J. Skelton, P. W Cantwell. W. E. King. Junior: D. Oborn. G. C. Malcolm, T. E. Gooding, W. 0. Worrall, G. S. Ardley, A. Service, E. T. Brown, E. G. Foot. The best gross medal over 36 holes was won by J. Drought (4), with a score of 155 and the hest net medal by E. A. Carson (12). with 140.
Auckland. —At Middlemore a Stableford competition was staged. This was won by O. L. Martelli, 41. Martelli, whose handicap is 10, was out in 3(> and home in 39, making his net score 65. Others were: —R. P. Woriev, 37; J. P. Aldred, 36; B. H. Menzies, 35; T. E. Clark. 34; C. N. Jacobsen, 33.
Titirangi.—The following were the best cards sent in for the bogey handicap competition: —R. B. Tappenden, 2 up; E. T. Gillett, J. M. Glaister, 1 down; P. Wallis, 2 down; and C. J. Bunting, 3 down. Akarana. —In the third round of the Howie Walker trophy competition, J. Gregory and M. Kiely beat W. M. Boyle and A. Herd, 4 and 3; E. F. Watkins and L. Monteith beat J. D. Lewis and J. Brierly at the 19th; R. H.. Lewis and C. Goldfinch beat L. Johnston and R. P. Williams, 3 and 2. in the bogey match held in conjunction the best card returned was by L. Johnston, 3 up, off scratch. The next best were:—B. J. O'Brien (7), 1 up; A. Herd (12), 1 up; S Booth (1), all square; A. W. Baker (11), all square; P. G. F Smith (plus 1), 1 down; H. P. Cullen (7), 1 down.
Maungakiekie.—A Stableford bogey in two grades was played at One Tree Hill under good conditions. Results were:—A grade: C. W. Schnauer, 32, 8—40; D. R. Garrard. 31, 6 —37; J. W. Fawsett, 28, 9 —37; D. M. Rae, 2S, S —36; C.. M. Beckley, 27, 9 —36; A. C. Steele, 30, 5 —35; J. T. Mayson, 31, 4 —35. B grade: B. C. Housley, 23, 16 —39; S. T. Rostgard, 24, 11 —35; D. B. Edmonds, 24, 11 —35; J. L. Hanna, 17, 17—34; T. M. Pemberton, 23, 11—34. Retnuera. —A four-ball best-ball bogey competition was won by R. Alexander and M. Hunter, 6 up. The next best were:—D. Man sergh and 0- Burns, J. Madden and N. Williams, 4 up. Orakei.—A flag match resulted: —Seniors: A. Morgan carried the flag to the 19th fairwav Juniors: F. Birch also carried the flag to the 19th fairway. The first round of the championship resulted: —Seniors: R. Morgan beat A. White, 5 and 4; J. Edwards, beat G. Satchell, 3 and 1; and T. Cooke beat N. Willis, 3 and 1. Intermediates: B Baul beat H. B. Robertson, 5 and 4; G. McLisky beat W. Turbott, 2 and 1; G. Tyndall heat G. Smith, 4 and 2. Juniors: B. Reeves beat F. Tornqnist, 3 and 1; and E. T. Reid beat C. Fleming, 3 and 2. Pupuke Ladies. —The championships have reached the final stage, play being decided up to the semi-finals during the week-end. In the senior qualifying round the best net scores were returned by Miss M. Sexton, 91, 11—SO. and Miss E. Barker, 91, 14 —SO, Miss Sexton winning on the count-back. In the junior qualifying round the best net score was. registered by Miss E. Avenell, 107, 27 —SO. Match play resulted as follows: — Seniors, first round: Mrs. P. Andrew beat Miss M. Campbell, 4 and 3; Miss B. Mills beat Mrs. M. Walker, 4 and 3; Mrs. F. Prosser beat Miss F. Barker, 1 up; Miss B. Orr beat Miss M. Sexton, 1 up. Semi-finals: Mrs. P.
