CHRISTIAN TEACHING
Sir, —I may be an incorrigible idealist but I am convinced that "Y for Vindicate" (Hf.rald, 18/8/41) is right, and that Mr. MeCready is putting the cart before the horse in suggesting that if Christ were in the world to-day He would restate His Gospel to bring it up to date. If, as "V for Vindicate" states, the principles of this Gospel are universal, final and unchanging, is it not desirable that we recognise and accept the inescapable purport of Christ's teaching and life so thoroughly and universally that war would be outlawed, rather than that Christ's teaching should be recast on lines that would provide a sanction for warP 11.
