PENSION RIGHTS DEFERRED (S.E.) "WELLINGTON. Wednesday "It is considered that while a member is on the way to or from a parade and is under no form of control he is not on service, and any injury suffered during this period is not pensionable," said the Minister of Defence, the Hon. F. Jones, in a reply made in the House of Representatives to-dav to a question asked by Mr. C. A. Wilkinson (Independent—Egmont) concerning a member of the Home Guard who had been injured while on his way to attend a parade. Mr. Jones explained that a pension was payable to Home Guard members only when it was established that death or disablement had been suffered in the course of service and was directly attributed to this service. CONVERSION OF CAR ! (0.C.) ROTORUA, Wednesday "The mark on your forehead is quite sufficient to prove that you are not telling the .truth," said Mr. W. H. Freeman. S.M., when sentencing Ivan Levvis Mitchell, aged 22, of Taupo, to two months' imprisonment with hard labour for unlawfully converting a car to his own use. The accused pleaded not guilty. The police brought evidence ito show that accused had been involved in a motor accident.
