THEFTS AT CAMP
SOLDIER FINED £5 A home service soldier, Thomas McCune, aged 19. appeared at the Papaknra' Police Court yesterday charged with the theft of 51b. of butter and 21b. of tea. Sergeant T. H. Dyer said accused was employed at the Papakura camp and it was part of his duty to draw rations for the .staff. McCune, pleading guilty, said what he took was surplus rations overdrawn. Mr. P. H. Levien. S.M.. said he viewed this class of petty thieving seriously. Apparently there <vas a good deal of it going on and the time was coming when people who stole from Government stores should go to gaol. He fined accused £5.
