MR. HOLLAND'S SEAT
FIVE LABOUR ASPIRANTS (0.C.) CHRISTCHUHCH, Monday Five candidates have been nominated for the ballot to select the Labour Party's candidate to contest the Christchurch North seat against the Leader of the Opposition, Mr. S. G. Holland. They are Messrs. B. McKenna, H. B. Denton, G. Manning, J. Mathison and G. Shankland.
Mr. McKenna is president of the New Brighton Trotting Club. Mr. Denton unsuccessfully contested the Hurunui seat for Labour at the last election. Mr. Manning is a member of the City Council, and Mr. Mathison is a former employee and chairman of the Tramway Board. Mr. Shankland has been president of the General Labourers' Union.
