A SIMPLE TOFFEE! Five tablespoons sugar, two tablespoons butter, four tablespoons vinegar. Stir all the time. Boil till sets in water.. A simple toffee and good for colds. —From Jean Mason (30) COCONUT BALLS Six ounces flour, one beaten egg, half teaspoon soda, three ounces coconut, two ounces sugar, one teaspoon cream of tarter, one tablespoon milk. Rub the butter into the flour, add dry ingredients and mix to stiff paste with beaten egg and soda dissolved in milk. Break off small pieces, roll into tiny balls and dip in sugar. Bake six minutes. —From June Mason.
