DELICACY FOR TROOPS
THE MAORI BATTALION MUTTON BIRD SHIPMENT 10.C.) DUXEDIX, Wednesday A shipment of several . thousand mutton-birds will be sent to F.gypt as a special "comfort" for members of the Maori battalion. Tt was Wt, by mnnv Maoris that., acceptable as they were, the standard parcels of comforts were not altogether suited to native soldiers overseas, some of whom had written home expressing a longing for "the good old muttonbird." Acting on this knowledge, a well-known member of the race, Mr. Ned Partita, arranged for the shipment. Since so many young Maoris are away at the war there was difficulty in securing a sufficiently large quantity of the delicacy, but each member of the battalion will receive at least one bird. Tho birds have been tinned so that they will arrive in good condition.
