OBITUARY
MR. WILLIAM BROWN The death has occurred at the age of 81 of Mr. William Brown, a wellknown resident ol Remuera for the past Hi years. Mr. Brown joined the Belfast Banking Company in Ireland as a young in a n and later came to New Zealand, where he was a member of the staff of the Bank of New South Wales in Christchurch. Most of his banking career was spent in the South Island, where he was manager of the bank in several towns. Mr. Brown, whose wife died nearly four years ago, is survived by one son and one daughter. There are two grandchildren. MR. CHARLES HENTY Tlio death has occurred at Tapuhi, North Auckland, of Mr. Charles Henty, a well-known farmer, at the age of 66. Born in England, Mr. Henty came to New Zealand as a young man and lived for some years in Southern Taranaki. lie was always interested in military affairs, and when living in Opunako became captain of the local cavalry corps. During the last war lie was engaged in recruiting and attained the rank of major. He farmed at Patea after the war before going north to Kamo and then to 'lapulii. Mr. Henty is survived by his wife, three sons and two daughters. The eldest son was safely evacuated to Egvpt after serving in "the Greek and Cretan campaigns, while another has been in training with the Expeditionary Force at Papakurn. MRS. L. V. FITOHETT The death has occurred of Mrs. Lina Valerie Fitchctt. widow of the late Dr. F. Fitchctt, former M.P. for Dunedin Central. Solicitor-General and Public Trustee. Mrs. Fitchctt was widely known in Auckland for her work for soldiers and their dependants both during the last war and after it. Mrs. Fitchctt was very widely travelled and was in England when the present war broke out. She is survived by one son.
