NORTHCOTE AFFAIRS
A request from the Auckland City Council for the transfer of 50 chains of eight inch wrfter main in order to save capital expenditure on distributing mains was declined at last night's meeting of the Northcote Borough Council. It was stated that the council expected to find a use for its main, but was prepared to make some arrangement by which the City Council would have use of the main, which is in Northcote Road. The council declined a request for a donation to the Fighting Forces Fund, the Mayor. Mr. E ('. Fowler, saying the council had other heavy commitments.
