"A meeting of the War Council was hold to-day," said the acting-Prime Minister, the Hon. W Nash, in a .statement to-night, "to consider reports made b.v the Defence and Military Affairs Committee and the Primary and Industrial Production Committee or the council. The manpower position was discussed and certain recommendations hav< been made for the consideration of the War Cabinet. '"The council approved of a proposal to establish testing stations, two fixed and two mobile, at each of the tour main centres for the identification of lachrymatory and poison gases These stations will function as part of the F.mergence Precautious Organisation.
"The shipping position in the Pacific and the Tasnian was also discussed by the council,'' added Mr. Nash, "and reference was made to the proposals ol the Government m regard to the erection ol storage lor foodsl tills awaiting shipment overseas. The council was in formed of the position in regard to Crete and the part: played by lhe New Zealand Fx pedit ionar.v Force in the valiant defence there."
