BEGINNING THE DAY
(Supplied by the Council of Christian Congregations.) Text. —My pence 1 give unto you. John xiv., 27. Prayer.—Most gracious God, we beseech Thee, that when wo are weary with the conflict of life, and worn out by the burden of tho day, we may find in Thee our resting-place. May Thy eternal calm descend upon our troubled spirits and give to us that peace which passeth all understanding. In all life's desert places may we find that Thou art a spring whoso waters never fail. So strengthen us, we pray Thee, that our sorrow may be turned into joy, and that we may continually glorify Thy holy name, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
