POSITION OF NORTHCOTE The position of Northcote in regard tf> the supplv of city water to the North Shore came before the City Council last night. when a letter was received from the Board of Health staling that the Xorthcote liorough Coutieil. through effluxion of timi'. had lost its right to appeal against the re(|iiisition to enter into a contract with the City Council The hoard suggested that the City Council should agree to allow a further period ol seven days for the lodging of an appeal. It was decided to reply that the council had no objection.
A notification was received that a conference of representatives of the local bodies concerned in the scheme had been called for July 2 to deal with the future use and ownership of any existing waterworks required for standby purposes alter the new sup|>I \ had been rnadc available, and that .Mr. I'\ W. Furkert. formerly chief Public Works enirineer. had been appointed to prc-ide. The .Mayor and Mr. A. S. Mailcv were appointed to repiesent the council.
