DECORATED SERGEANT FIXE RECORD IX LAST WAR A lion-comrnissioned oflieer ol the wai rt UHI-lOIH. in which he won the Distinguished Conduct Medal, Sergeant Charles Gartlion Ruekworth, of Auckland, was recently reported missing •while serving wit.fi the Second New Zealand Expeditionary Force. Sergeant Ruck wort n was among the first to enlist in the Army in the present war. His record in the last war was a distinguished one, and his work during the attack by the Xew Zenlanders oil Re Qitesnoy is in Colonel Stewart's "History of tho New Zealand Division." ft is stated that throughout the attack, Sergeant Ruckworth did fine work on the left (lank by personal reconnaissance, and by bombing .attacks which resulted in the capture of several machine-guns. He served from 1915 to 1919, and was "wounded twice. When he returned to New Zealand he resumed bis work as an electrical engineer. While in training at Trentham in tho last war. Sergeant Ruckworth celebrated his 17th birthday, and refused an opportunity to obtain commissioned rank so as to leave New Zealand for the front as soon as possiblo. He left as a sergeant.
