STRAWBERRY GROWING
PLANTING WELL ADVANCED Full advantage of the dry conditions Inst, month and the beneficial rains over recent weeks has been taken by the commercial strawberry growers in the Auckland district and planting operations are said to be well advanced. In some localities, it was stated yesterday, planting was almost completed and the season for setting out areas is expected to finish at an earlier dato this year. Congenial conditions at this stage have a great influence on the crop, which commences to be harvested in the middle of October. The plantings this year aro said to number about 1.750,000. covering about 75 acres. This is approximately the same as Inst year, but is only slightly moro than half the area under cultivation sovernl years ago.
