SUCCESS AT HIS MAJESTY'S Polished acting by an accomplished east made "The Barretts of Wimpolo Street," which was presented at His Majesty's Theatre last, night by the Athaciieuin Dramatic Society, an impressive and delightful production. Throughout the five acts, the acting, particularly that of .lean Douglas, who played the part of Elizabeth, and Leo O'Malley, who niacin a convincing Edward Barrett, was natural and spirited. Doreeu Sharpe as Henrietta Barrett and Halpli Dyer as Henry Bevan, the foppish fiance of Bella lied ley (Doris Hayloek), also gave excellent presentations.
The role of Uobert. Browning was effectively taken by Frederick Johnson. In the long scenes of his conversations with Elizabeth Barrett interest was never inclined to lag. Jean Douglas, as the crippled heroine, showed great finesse, and at 1110 close of a brilliant evening was warmly applauded by a crowded bouse. Doris Hayloek made a splendid Bella Medley, and George Byrt scored as Octavius Barrett. The play was produced for one night only by Mr. Leslie Watson and proceeds were in aid of group 7 (drapery and hoots) for the Fighters' Mother Fund.
