FORMER M.P.'S DEATH

MR. PETER McSKIMMING [BY TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION 1 DUNEDIN, Friday The death occurred to-night of Mr. Peter McSkiniining, aged 69. formerly United Party M.P. for Clutha from 19:51 to I9;i.j.

Mr McSkimming was n unlive of Ayrshire, Scotland, and arrived as a lad with his parents in Otago in 1878. After a period of service at the hriek and pipe works. Henhar, then owned bv the late .Mr. John Nelson. Mr. McSkimlll iiifi and his father took over the colliery and pipe works and established the business now known as MeSkiniining and Son, Limited. Mr. McSkinuniug engaged in many other coniniercial enterprises, including farming. lie was chairman of directors of the South Otago I l ' reeling Company, the Kaitangata Coal Company and the South Ota go Starr-Bowkett Society and a director in A. and T. Hurt. Limited, the Mruce Woollen Company, the Otago Farmers' Co-operative Association and the Dominion Fertiliser Company.
