Islanders are starving because the Germans have requisitioned all the live stock. Bread is unprocurable. The inavders have also requisitioned beds, bed linen and blankets. Whit worth, C.8., D.5.0. : to be a Lord Commissioner of the Admiralty and chief of naval personnel, in succession to Admiral Sir Charles Little. Vice-Admiral Whitworth had been in command of the Battle-cruiser Squadion since 1939, prior to which he was Naval Secretary to the First Lord of the Admiralty. RANGITANE SURVIVORS 'ARRIVAL IN ENGLAND LONDON, May 17 After six months ol adventure and clangers on the high seas, survivors of the liner Rangitane, sunk on November 26 in the South Pacific, have reached their homes in England Interviewed in her Leeds home today, one survivor, Mrs. E. -M SntclifFoHey, said; "1 am delighted to arrive in time for my son's fifth birthday."
