RUGBY UNION OFFICIALS The Cambridge Golf Club's amateur course record of 69 was recently .equalled by one of the club's youngest senior members, ,W. Woollev. The gross score of 69 has been reI turned twice previously, by 5 11. N. i rccman I and K. C. Ward. Provided the date is suilable for Auckland, the first Soccer match for the Football Assoeiation trophy will be played at the Basin Reserve, Wellington, on June '2B. Wellington will be defending the trophy which it won from Auckland last season. The Bradford Cricket League clubs arc engaging many famous players; already signed up are 17 with experience in first--1 class cricket before the war—namely, Paynter j (Lancashire), Smith (Middlesex), Constantme, ! Martindale (West Indies), Keeton (Notts), i C'opson, A. V Pope, L. F. Townscnd (Derbyi shire), Wood. Barber, Fisher, Jacques, Fidi tiling. Douglas Taylor (Yorkshire). Berry j (Surrey), Brook (Worcestershire). The result of the New Zealand Rugby Union election (by postal ballot) has been announced as follows: —Pirsident, Mr. W. Craddock (Buller); vice-presidents, Messrs. J. X. Millard (Wellington), D. M. Spedding (Otago); council, Messrs. G. A. Maddison (Hawko's Bay), A. St. G. Belcher (Waikato), the Hon. J. McLeod (Taranaki), A. A. Adams I (West Coast), D. M. Spedding (Otago), L. R. ! Lopdell (Southland), and the members of the | executive who were all re-elected. j Two former Auckland Rugby representatives, M. Nelson and A. JHalliwell, turned out to assist their respective clubs, Suburbs and Pon-onhy, in senior championship matches las! Saturday. Nelson, who is a pilot-officer I in the Royal New Zealand Air Force, and I who is awaiting departure overseas, played ; a fine game in the Suburbs forwards against i Takar.uia. He received his Air Force traini inir ;ii I lie Levin, Wlicnuapai and Blenheim ' aerodromes. Halliwcll scored one of the two ! tries which gave Ponsonby victory over Eden. The Grafton Rugby Club is about to suffer a loss through the transfer to Palmerston North of W. Roddick, who has been one of its leading forwards during the past five, seasons. Coming from a well-known South I-land Riigbv family, Roddick has had a lengthv and successful career, having represented' Wanganui, the King Country and Manawhenua, being captain of the latter team for four years. In addition to his five years with Grafton, he also played for the Poneke Club in Wellington. Apart from his ability as a forward, Roddick is a splendid placekick, arid as recently as last Saturday he landed two penalty goals which gave Grafton a win over North Shore, When the police team won the Auckland inter-services competition in m.'iis, Roddick, who is in the detective force, scored 1 .">() of the 215 points registered by his team.
