BAY OF PLENTY LABOUR
ONLY FOUR ON SCHEME 13 (0.C.) ROTORUA, Thursday Only four men wore on Scheme 13 in the whole of the Rotorun. Tauranga, Whakatane and Opotiki districts, under tho supervision of the .Hay of Plenty placement office, stated Mr. L. H. Armstrong, placement officer. Two years ago there were at least 150 men under this scheme in the Buy of Plenty. Applications for vacancies on farms numbered 14, which compared favourably with the position at this time last year. Referring to the position in the State forest, where the labour supply has been severely depleted. Mr. Armstrong stated that there were vacancies for 150 men. but there was no hope of filling llicm. The labour shortage at timber mills was somewhat easier, due to the seasonal fluctuation of orders.
