TEACHERS' INTERESTS
COMBINED GATHERING [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION*] WELLINGTON, Thursday The executives of the Secondary Schools' Association and the Technical School Teachers' Association were the puests of the executive of the Educational Institute at a social gathering in Wellington. . .. The president of the institute, Mr. P. Forsyth, of Dunedin, said the idea of the " gathering was to bring the school teachers of the Dominion closer together. An effort has been made in th" past to form a federation of school teachers, but, it had resulted in failure. The institute, after years of fighting, had got rid of the bonds of external examinations, and >t would be only too pleased to help the secondary schools to break thes? irksome bonds. The president of the Technical School Teachers' Association. Mr. B. M. Davis, of Auckland, said his executive appreciated the idea behind that afternoon's gathering. He assured Mr. Forsyth of the co-operation of technical school teachers. The president of the Secondary Schools' Association, Mr. N. Hoghon, of Dannevirke, said the idea of bringing the representatives of various teachers' associations together periodically for an exchange of views was wis© and had the approval of secondary school teachers.
