OBITUARY
MR. J. M. BAXTER (0.C.) HAMILTON, Thursday The death has occurred at Krankton of Mr. .lames McLaren Baxter, aged 81. Mr. Baxter was horn in Glasgow, and came to New Zealand in 1880. Fie was secretary of the Franklin Agricultural and Pastorial Association from I!)L'5 to 1917, and from 1918 to IfW] he was secretary of Iho Waikato Agricultural and Pastoral Association. Air. Baxter was a well-known authority on horses and beef cattle, and he acted as judge at many shows. He is survived by his wife and a family of two.
MRS. M. E. SPENCER The death has occurred at Whakapnra of Mrs. Margaret Elizabeth Silencer, an old Whangarei pioneer. Mrs. Spencer was born at Auckland in 18.>5. She married the late Mr. Robinson Spencer and spent the earlier part of her married life in North Auckland. The family later moved to Rotorua, where Mr. Spencer died years ago. At the time of her death Mrs. Spencer was the oldest member on the communion roll of the Whangarei Presbyterian Church. She is survived b.v two daughters.
