SERIES OF CHARGES
PRISON TERM IMPOSED Seven charges of obtaining credit by fraud involving £9 13s 6d and ono charge of obtaining £4 4s by false pretences were admitted by Allan Edwin Browne, butcher, aged 26 (Mr. Robinson) in the Police Court, before Mr. F. K. Runt, S.M., yesterday. Sub-Inspector Pender said the charges of obtaining credit by fraud occurred when accused hired different taxi-cabs and represented that payment would be made by another person. He had also obtained £4 4s from a shopkeeper by stating he would supply her with a dozen stockings. Ho had been before the court previously. Mr. Robinson said friends with whom accused had shared the taxis had left him to pay. Accused was sentenced to three months' imprisonment on one charge of obtaining credit by fraud. He was convicted and discharged on the other counts.
