TRAFFIC CONTROL

NEWMARKET INTERSECTION A decision to compliment the city engineer, Mr. .1. Tyler, on what was described as his progressive move in adopting the roundabout principle for the control of vehicular traffic, at the junction of the Great South Boad and Manukau Road, was made at a meeting of the council of the Automobile Association (Auckland) last night. The chairman of the service committee, Mr. H. W. Bullock, said the installation of two traffic islands would effectively reduce the speed of motortraffic approaching from the Groat South Boad and St. Mark's Boad. A sub-committee of the association had conferred with the City Council engineers and had made several recommendations designed to improve control at the intersection.
