THE HOSPITAL BOARD MR. HOWITT NOT STANDING Representative of the North Shore boroughs on the Auckland Hospital Board until 1935, Mr. W. K. Howitt has announced that he will not contest rhe board election this month. Mr. Howitt has had a long career in local body administration, dating from 1806. He was a member of the Hospital Board continuously from 1921 and was also » member of the Devonport Borough Council for a period. An announcement that he did not intend to seek re-election on the Auckland Hospital Board as representative for the Manukau district, has been made by the Rev. W. C. Wood. He has represented this district for the last 12 years. Mr. Wood stated as his reason that he had not resided in the district for the last five years, and was now living at Milford. However, he had been asked to allow his name to go to the poll as a representative for the North Shore, and was giving the matter his consideration. MOUNT EDEN BOROUGH TWO NOMINATIONS MADE The nomination of the present Mayor of Mount Eden, Mr. R. .J. Mills, for the Mayoralty was received yesterday. He was nominated by Messrs. C. Cowan, L. S. Rickcrby and A. P. Hartnoil. Another nomination for the .Mount Eden Mayoralty received yesterday was that of Mr. A. Clive Johns, a members of the present council and chairman of the Finance Committee. Mr. .Johns was nominated by Messrs. N. C. Sneddon, K. N. Buttle and six others.

DEVONPORT ASPIRANTS MR. T. LAMONT TO STAND A decision to contest the Devonport mayoralty was announced by Mr. Thomas Lamont last night. Mr. Lamont is a former Mayor of Devonport, having occupied that oflice for two terms in the period from 1923 to 1i)27. He lias travelled extensively abroad in the past few years and has again taken up his residence in the borough. There are now three candidates for the mayoralty, Messrs. T. C. HobbsJones arid E. Aldridge, both members of the present council, having already announced their intention to stand MAYOR FOR 12 YEARS MR. T. JACKSON, ROTORUA (0.c.) ROTORUA, Thursday The Mayor of Rotorua, Mr. T. Jackson, has consented, in response to the request of a large deputation, to again contest the office. Mr. Jackson has been Mayor of Rotorua for 12 years.
