"In determining the policy of this union for the ensuing year we must face np to the position that every man over •_'() ' vears of age is eligible for military service," 'said Mr. Wilcox. "The prospect, therefore, of 1 conducting a senior competition must be ruled ' out for the duration of the war, hut it is up i to ns old players to see that the union func- ! I inns and the organisation is maintained in i order that so many of our young and promising players serving overseas may, on their return follow on where they left off." The speaker added that, although the union would commence the season with finances at a very low ebb, every effort must be made to cater for third grade and junior players. Special efforts would be required to raise the necessary finances to conduct these competitions, and ways and means would have to be given serious ' consideration at an early t date. A resolution that onlv junior and third grade competitions be played this season was carried unanimously.
