DEATH AT 90 YEARS
MRS. MARY E. MERTON The death has occurred ol Mrs. Mary Flizabeth Morton, aged DO. widow of the I'ev. C. .1. Morton, of Christchiirch and North Auckland. Mrs. Mertoii was born iu Devonshire and came to New Zealand when a year old with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Vincent, in the sailing ship Canterbury. They settled in the Canterbury district and successfully farmed a holding at Hangiora.
In 1572 Miss Vincent married Mr. Mi •rton, who whs also a member of a pioneer family, and who was associated with the Anglican Church. In 1896 the family removed to Kaitaia, and in 1912 were transferred to Helensville. where Mr. Mcrton died in 1916. For the past 25 years Mrs, Morton had resided in the Otahului district. She is survived bv two sons and one daughter.
