CHRISTMAS FESTIVITY

SOLDIERS IN LONDON NEW ZEALAND FORCES CLUB [from our own correspondent] ' LONDON, Jan. 3 Christmas was celebrated at the New Zealand Forces Club, when a large number of New Zealand soldiers, sailors and airmen were entertained at a dinner of Turkey and Christmas pudding. Christmas tree fully 20 feet high had been provided by the New Zealand Forestry unit and was probably one of ihe biggest ever seen in London. Tt was decorated by Mrs. Freybcrg, who has done so much for the New Zeaianders. Corporal H. W. Hughes, as Father Christmas, distributed gifts to every man present. The High Commissioner. Mr. \V. J. Jordan, and Brigadier Hargest. who attended, entered fully into the cheerful spirit of the gathering. Speeches were made by Mr. Jordan. Brigadier; Hargest, Mrs. Harston and Colonel Waiie. who gave special thanks lo the ladies who act day and night as voluntary workers at the club. An excellent musical programme was arranged by Miss Stella Murray and there was also an orchestra for dancing.
