Major -V. \\. Short, yesterday, when reporting on the progress of the organisation. Major Short said that, since the commencement of tlie recruiting campaign, ten weeks ago. the enlistments in the Auckland provincial area had reached 6500. Intending recruits in the metropolitan area were urged to join up forthwith, so that they could get the benefit of the early training now under way. Major Short said it was encouraging to receive requests from the Great Barrier and Waiheke Islands for meetings to be addressed there with a view to forming units.
