Saturday Tlift • position regarding liability to register was tlici subject of a statement to-day by the Minister of National Service, tlio Hon. 11. Keinplo. "Anyono born in New Zealand or any part of the British Empire is a natural-horn British subject and is liable if otherwise eligible for enrolment in the first division of the general reserve. Any such not already registered," the Minister said, "would he well advised to do so without delay. "Persons of an alien race not born, in a British country, but resident in New Zealand, are members of the general reserve, but not of the first division and are under no immediate obligation to enrol even if they have become naturalised British subjects. "If any person of alien extraction is in doubt whether he should enrol or not his best course is to enrol," Mr. j Hem pie said, "lie need have no apprehension that he will be wrongly 'included in the register of the first division if lie is not eligible, but he is definitely liable, to severe penalties if he is eligible and does not enrol."
