VAIN TARANAKI SEARCH [BY TELEGRAP&-OWN CORRESPONDENT] HAWERA, Saturday Little hope is now held out for Mr. and Mrs. C. Oakes, the newly-married couple who were last seen adrift on a raft off the Taranaki coast 011 Monday evening. Police are still patrolling the beaches, but no trace 01 the raft or its occupants has been seen. Mr. and Mrs. Oakes put out on Monday evening to test their new raft as a fishing craft. They were lightly clad and carried no food of any kind. They are believed to have had a fishing line with them. Searches from the air have been abandoned.
