ALL-IN WAR EFFORT

Sir, —If we are to have a real all-in war effort, surely it should start in the Cabinet itself. At present we have the Prime Minister appealing for every penny to win the war, and we see on the screens pictures of soldiers calling out for money with which to buy munitions. Then we have the Minister of Finance appealing for funds for public works and buildings, and offering hottor terms than offered for the war loan. All tlwj time the Minister of Internal Affairs is running an art union for objects of his own choice, which up to now have not included the war effort. How can the country lie all-in when the Cabinet is all-out? There will be plenty of time for public buildings, works and the like when we have won the war. S. M.mtus.
