CANDIDATES ASSEMBLE BIG AWAPUNI CONTINGENT OLD BILL AND THE BUZZER [BY TKI.KG lIAPH —OWN COKRESPONDENT] PALMERSTON NORTH, Monday Old Bill, Golden Moon, Black Thread and Night ward went, to Trent ham today. Other horses to make the trip were Sir Beau, Belle Cane, iNinia, Globe Trotter, Taleiita and Fleehe d'Ur. Horses from Awapuni scheduled to pro to Trentham to-morrow are Tlie Buzzer. Kotua, Dainty Sue, Colonel Bogey, Squeers, Catalogue, Cherry Bay, Thrasos and (Jold Bridge Chary, Tau-uru, Last Acre, "Wild Fire and JM it tic, the last-named being from Levin, made the journey yesterday. There was some interesting track work at Awapuni on Saturday. Among those who galloped satisfactorily were the Wellington Cup horses Old Bill, The Buzzer and Catalogue. They ran a mile on the plough, and Old Bill and The Buzzer worked particularly well. CUP HORSES GALLOP KINDERGARTEN, PROUD FOX i [Br TELEGRAPH —OWN COUP, KSI'ONDENI'J WELLINGTON, Monday The Wellington Cup horses, Kindergarten and Proud Fox, galloped a mile together on (he trial grass at Trentham this morning, recording i.javj. The going was a trifle dead. Both horses worked and finished well. TRIP TO AMERICA BEAU PERE ON MARIPOSA The stallion Beau Pere, who for the second year in succession has headed the winning sires' list in Australia and New Zealand, is aboard the Mariposa on his way to America. Some time ago Mr. Louis Mayer, of Culver, California, arranged with Mr. AY. J. Smith, of the St. Aubins Stud, Scone, New South Wales, for Beau Pere to do a season at the stud in America, and he will stand at Culver. He will later return to Australia. Beau Pere, who is by Son-in-Law from China, was bred in England in and was bought at the December sales at Newmarket, England, by the British Bloodstock Agency, on behalf of Mr. John Donald, of the AVest mere Stud. Wanganui. for lodgns. He turned out a great sire, and at the dispersal sale of Mr. Donald's stud in 1937 was sold to Mr. Smith for 3300gns Among his successful progeny arc Beau A T ite, Beaulivre. Sir Beau, Beau Repaire, Yogi, | Taurangi, Kathbella, Beaupartir, Beau Leon and Arvakur. E. FT. J. Shaw, private trainer to Mr. Smith, is in charge of Beau Pere.
