TWIN GIRL DROWNED
DISAPPEARANCE IN SURF DELAY IN GIVING ALARM [BY TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION] NEW PLYMOUTH,. Friday Disappearing beneath a small breaker at. Opunake at mid-day, Margaret Parker, aged 10, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Parker, of Otakeho. was not seen again. There was only a slight surf running and no undertow. The girl was accompanied by her twin sister, Ruth, who went- to the house where they were staying and almost half an hour elapsed before the alarm was given. Ruth thought the water cold and returned to the beach, but Margaret went out in shallow water. This was the first drowning at Opunake for ten years.
