AIR FORCE ACTIVITY SUCCESSFUL BOMBING NORWEGIAN HARBOUR VISIT By Teioarraph—Prwui Association—Copyright (Received December 29, 5.85 p.m.) British Wireless LONDON, Dec. 28 The Royal Air Force Bomber Command last night raided bases in occupied France from which Germany attacks shipping in the Atlantic. The chief objectives were the submarine base at Lorient and an aerodrome near Bordeaux from which Germany sends some of her heaviest bombers over the ocean trade routes. A communique detailing last night's raids states that at Lorient stores, barracks, dry docks and the power station were bombed, and at Cherbourg the docks were straddled. At Bordeaux bad weather made it difficult to find the target, but many bombs were seen to burst among the hangars. The aerodrome nnd shipbuilding yards at St. Nazaire were also bombed. The programme of mine-laying in enemy waters was continued. Attacks by Day In all these operations two of our aeroplanes are missing. The Air Ministry states that two attacks were made to-day on Lorient by Coastal Command bombers. Hits were observed, and all our machines returned safely. Coastal Command aircraft also bombed the submarine base at Lorient and aerodromes in Brittany in daylight yesterday. An enemy fighter was shot down in the sea off the French coast. All the British aeroplanes returned from these raids. Supply Ship Set on Fire A small force of bombers the previous night attacked the aerodrome at Bordeaux. One British aircraft is missing. Skua aircraft yesterday attacked enemy shipping and harbour works in the Haugesund area, north of Stava tiger, states an Admiralty communique. One enemy supply ship of 4000 tons lying alongside a jetty was hit and set on fire. Hits were also scored on jetties and warehouses. One of the enemy's anti-aircraft guns was, silenced by machine-gun fire. All otir machines returned safely. PALESTINE MIGRATION WARTIME DIFFICULTIES MANY ILLEGAL ARRIVALS (Received December 29. 5.35 p.m.) LONDON. Dec. 27 The Government has announced that it is not issuing an immigration schedule for the seven months' period ending April because SHOO immigrants are unable to reach Palestine owing to wartime difficulties. They might arrive in the next few months. A total of 12.270 legal and '26,000 illegal immigrants have entered Palestine since April, 10^9. SITUATION AT TANGIER DISCUSSIONS IN MADRID (Received December 29. 5.35 p.m.) British Wireless LONDON, Dec. 27 The British Consul-General at Tangier. .Mr. A D. F. Gnscoine, has arrived at Madrid for conversations on the situation created by the action of the Spanish authorities at Tangier. Sir Samuel lloare, British Ambassador at Madrid, who immediately took up the question with Senor Sutler, Spanish Foreign Minister, was authorised to invite Mr. Gascoine to proceed to Madrid for consultations.
