MUSIC PROSECUTIONS
BIG AMERICAN CONCERNS ANTI-TRUST PROCEEDINGS (Received December 27, 5.35 p.m.) WASHINGTON, Dec. 20 Tho Attorney-General, Mr. Robert H. Jackson, announced that he is instituting criminal proceedings under the Sherman Anti-Trust Act against the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers, Broadcast Music, Incorporated, the National Broadcasting Corporation and the Columbia Broadcasting System. The charges are based on allegations of "illegal" pooling of the most desirable copyright music for tho radio to eliminate competition and create a monopoly, "illegal price fixing.'" restraining composers' right to bargain, and mutual boycotts by the, American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers and the broadcasting chains (through Broadcast Music, Incorporated) in an attempt to monopolise and control tho supply of music.
