filled with prominent citizens and tho cream of cafe society. Besides floor show s and cabaret turns by celebrated artists, one of tho most popular items on the programme of entertainment was a fashion show arranged by six leading dress designers and modelled by members of the fashionable Junior League. Titled "The Brownstone Ball." this display featured thirty of fashion's latest trends for evening wear, shown against a background of red, white and blue to an audience of over a thousand. One of the most outstandingly lovely models was of youthful white tulle cut to sophisticated lines by the addition of a gold buckler of gold kid which rather resembled a wide corselet belt. From beneath this the skirt: swirled in many thicknesses of fabric to a wide hemline. The mannequin in this frock completed it with a high, gilt-entwined diadem of the plaited colute tulle. Bouffauey again came into its own in a black velvet gown cut with an extraordinarily low deeolletage and unusual double shoulder straps. The skirt was bordered with a wide hemline of Chantilly type lace and the .sash how was of the same. You see this model in the illustration.
