RECOVERY OF BODY
[from our OWN' corukspondkxt] WHANG A R EI, Wednesday The body of Mr. Frederick Smith, an Auckland sen man on the vessel Miena who was drowned at Portland on Saturday afternoon, was recovered by the police near the Portland wharf yesterday afternoon. An inquest was opened at Whangarei before the deputy-district coroner, Mr. H. C. Hemphill, and adjourned sine die.
