BUSINESS MAN'S DEATH
MR. J. S. MACARTHUR [ BY TELEGRAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT] WELLINGTON, Sunday The death has occurred of Mr. James Smith Macarthur, aged 67. managing director of the Dental and Medical Supply Company, Limited. Mr. Macarthur was born in Dunedin and educated at the Otago Boys' High School. Mr. Macarthur joined the company of which lie was head in 1903, after 12 years in the hanking business, as secretary. Jn 1912 he became general manager, ami lie was elected to the board
of directors four years later. In 1922 he became chairman of directors, and held that office until earlier this year. He was also a director of the Victoria Laundry, Turnbull and Jones, Limited, and the Golden Bay Cement Company. In his youth Mr. Macarthur played Rugby, and was a foundation member of the Wellington Tennis Club. He was later president of the Kelburn Rowling Club tor a year, and was grand master of the Aorangi Masonic Lodge. Mr. Macarthur married twice, and is survived by four sons, two of whom are serving with the forces.
