FAMOUS HAUNTED HOUSE
Borley Rectory, Essex CCIT LITTLE dreamed that there | was ten years' work ahead of me probing the mystery of what was to become the best authenticated case of haunting in the annals of psychical research," states Mr. Harry Price in an introduction to his book "The Most Haunted House In England." The happenings at Borley Rectory in Essex were front-page news in many of the leading English papers, and Mr. Price has collected the oral and written testimony of many people who witnessed the extraordinary events in the rectory, which culminated in its being burned to the ground. His own personal experiences in the rectory are indeed amazing, but Air. Price's standing in the world of psychical research and the way in which he has devoted himself in the past to seeing that phenomena was genuine and not fraudulent chaff, increases the value of his observations and explanations. This well documented book is of very great interest, for in addition to the views of the official observers of these strange happenings, writings and movements, tho personal experiences of local people all show that Borley Rectory was a very queer place. Mr. Price j:ives the evidence and the reader can judge for himself—that is the main purpose of the author. "Tho Jlost Haunted House In England," by Harry Price. (Longmans.)
