Choosing a Name
There's a baby down at auntie's place; '7 was but last Week be came. And though he's just the clearest thing lie hasn't any name I My Aunt Denise lik.es Christopher, My Auntie May likes Pat "Short names," she says, "are quite the best; I'm very sure of that." Gran says: "I think that Reginald Is just the sweetest name . . . But folks Would call him Reggie, and That isn't quite the same." Uncle Gerald winks at me And pulls a face so grave, "Horatio, my dears," he says, "The road to fame will paOe!" "It's hard to find," says cousin Peg, "A nicer name than John." From morn till night it seems to me This talk, of names goes on. One day they call him Robin James, Next day they call him Paul. Perhaps the dear Wee cuddly chap Won't get a name at all! —Original, by Gwen Toye (19).
