LOST IN BUSH

YOUNG GIRLS' OEDEAL FOUND AFTER TWO DAYS SHELTERED, IN HOLLOW LOG [by telegraph—owx correspondent] KAIKOHE, Monday Two girls, Phyllis Parker, aged 10, and Ann Henry, aged 9, daughters of farmers in the Tutamoe district, between Kaihu and Taheke, who wore lost in the dense bush near - their homes on Saturday, were found at 1 p.m. to-day little the worse for their two nights in the open. The children left their homes at 11 o'clock on Saturday morning to groom a pet calf for show purposes,- and then decided to go into the bush to see some waterfalls. When the}' did not return in the afternoon anxiety was felt and the police from and Kaikohe organised search parties. Over 50 farmers from the district joined in the search. Heavy rain which set in on Saturday night continued over the weekend, but when the girls were found early this afternoon they were warm and dry. They had found shelter in a hollow rata iog and gathered berries to eat when they were unable to find their way home. When found they were only about three-quarters of a mile away. They had concentrated on keeping themselves drj' and were in good spirits when the search party located them.
