LADIES' COMPETITIONS OPEN DAY AT MAUNGAKIEKIE SENIOR GROSS TO MRS. V. KERR An open day was held by the Maungakiekie Ladies' Golf Club yesterday in showery weather. The best gross score for seniors was returned by Mrs. V. W. Kerr (Maungakiekie) who, in spite of a 10 at the ninth hole, returned a card of 84. The winners of the various competitions were:—Senior Ijest gross score, Mrs. V. W. Kerr (Maungakiekie), 81; junior best gross score, Mrs. C. F. Rosser (Maungakiekie), 00; senior medal handicap, Miss M. Wright (Titirangi), 88, 18 —70; senior sealed-holo contest, Mrs. L. Cornaga (Cambridge), 55; Junior medal handicap, Mrs. T. Oliphant (Auckland), 07, 25 —72; Mrs. S. Keys (Remuera), 01, 10 —72 (the tie was won by Mrs. Oliphant on a recount); junior sealed-hole event, Mrs. R. A. Yock (Maungakiekie), 47; bogey foursomes, 13 holes, Mns. C. P. Smith and Mrs. A. J. Keaney (Tit.rangi), all square; putting competition, 18 holes, Mrs. R. Hardley (Remuera), 34. Trophies won by members of the ladies' and men's clubs were presented by the president, Mr. F. Yates. Soldiers' Tournament. —The annual Northland Returned Soldiers' golf tournament was held on the Mount Dcnby (Whnngarei) links on Sunday. The adverse weather conditions curtailed the attendance, but returned, men turned up from "Wellsford, Okaihau and Dargaville, as well as tho Whangarei district. At tno conclusion of play tho trophies were presented by Dr. J. G. Campbell, presjdent of the Returned Soldiers' golf committee, to tho following winners:—Best gross score, L G. "W. Davidson (Dargavillo), 153 for tho 30 holes; runner-up, H. L. Younger. 382; best net score, J. G. Campbell, 150; runner-up, R. J. Scott. 157; morning Stableford. L. W. Booth. 31 points; runner-up, L. Andorson. Scott. Whangarol.—There was a largo muster of golfers at the Mouni Dcnby linke on Saturday, the last playing day of the season. The Canadian foursomes event was won by Rishworth and Miss Rishworth, with a score of 06Va not. The linke were in splendid order and the fine weather made good conditions for play.
