ST. JOHN AMBULANCE
DEMONSTRATION OF WORK An enjoyable evening was arranged by members of the four divisions of the St. John Ambulance Brigade at LCllerslie on Saturday, when a demonstration of the work practised by the members at their weekly parades was given. Among the visitors were the Mayor of Ellerslie, Mr. H. J. White, and the following senior officers of the brigade: Mr. F. J. Hutchinson, assistant commissioner, Rev. G. E. Moreton, Chaplain of the Order, Mr. C. Marks, district officer, Mr. W. R. Dawson and Mr. H. W. Thompson, corps officers, Mrs. F. Turner, lady corps officer. Mr. S. J'!. Langstone, secretary-manager of the association, was also present. In his welcoming address, the Divisional Superintendent, Mr. J. A. Phillips, of the Ellerslie Ambulance Division, said the occasion was a unique one in that it was the first time four divisions —ambulance, nursing, _ cadet ambulance and cadet nursing—in one district had taken part in an entertainment of this kind. Practical demonstrations in triangular and roller bandaging, treatment of fractures and hemorrhage, stretcher drill, resuscitation, bedmaking, and work under "black out" conditions were given by the various divisions.
