OPENING OF EXTENSIONS EFFICIENCY AND COMFORT INSPECTION BY PUBLIC Several hundred people visited the Knritane Hospital at Mount Albert on Saturday afternoon, to attend the official opening, by Sir Cnrrick Robertson, of some greatly needed additions to accommodation for mothers and babies. The new features add to the efficiency of the hospital and provide comfort and pleasant surroundings for the patients. The president of the Plunket Society. M'rts. J. C. Allan, said a great debt was owed to the, memory of tlu; late Sir Truby King and others who had helped found the Plunket system. She thanked the public for its continued support of the society. Visitors to the niothercraft cottage found the mothers' quarters had been made as home-like as possible. .Rooms had been decorated in soft pastel shades, with several individual touches given to each room. The accommodation for premature babies had been increased in size-. Thera was a larger nursery and the sitting-room for mothers had also been extended. The cottage is heated with electricity. The main building had undergone several transformations. A new and spacious kitchen gleamed with stainless steel and porcelain fixtures, while refrigerators and a coke-burning cooking stove had been installed. Inlaid linoleum and white walls completed the impression of a, well-designed and fullyequipped hospital kitchen. The former kitchen and pantry lmve been changed into a dispensary complete with terra/.zu benches for the preparation of baby foods, and a second ward for premature babies.
