BRITAIN SUPPORTED
AMERICAN PUBLIC OPINION "The American people have come to the conclusion that Britain is their first line of defence, and that by helping Bntain they are helping themselves," said Mr. M. A. Novomeysky, of Jerusalem, managing-director of Palestine Potash, Limited, who arrived from the United States by the American Clipper yesterday. Mr. Novomeysky, who is accompanied by Mrs. Novomeysky, left London by air for Lisbon, on his way to New York, in August, and will leave bv flying-boat this morning for Sydney, en route to Palestine by air. "I noticed an enormous change in public opinion in the United States in the time I was there," Mr. Novomeysky said. "When 1 first arrived and said that Britain could hold out and eventually w:in. the Americans obviously did not believe it. Six weeks later, however, they had come to accept it as a fact.-The Americans, too, have changed greatly in their sympathies. I did not meet a man. or a woman who was not sympathetic to Britain's cause and full of admiration for Britain's courage. Hostility to the dictators and sympathy j for Britain are increasing.'' |
