WOOL APPRAISAL
AUCKLAND FIXTURE START ON THURSDAY ABOUT 12,000 BALES EXPECTED ■ The second Auckland wool appraisal of tlio 1940-41 season will commence at the Parnell stores, on Thursday, and is expected to occupy three days. Over 10,000 hales already have arrived, and it is expected that the offering will total about 12,000 hales. Further appraisals in Auckland will he held on December 5, January 26, February 28 and April 1. Over 6000 bales were appraised at the first fixture on October 24, prompt date for which has been fixed for Tuesday. Growers will thus receive their cheques fully a month earlier than usual.'
Following the fine spell in October, wool lias been coming in freely to the Parnell stores over the past week. Classing and binning the wool had kept staffs very busy, but the preparations of catalogues is well in hand. The catalogue l'or binning wools will close on Tuesday, but any other clips received by rail up to Wednesday morning will be included in the appraisal, provided they are complete. Gratification with the co-operation of growers in having the clip dealt with promptly was expressed by Mr. .L*.G. Binney, chairman of the Auckland Wool brokers' Association, yesterday. He added that there would be no setbacks from interruptions due to the recent unsettled weather. Dealing with the question of skirting, Mr. Binnev stated that the majority of growers had adhered to the.. instructions. Most of the clips have shown a definite improvement. Mr. Binney added that growers should be congratulated on their achievement, particularly in view of the prevailing shortage of labour.
