GOLD DREDGES IDLE
SUNDAY WORK REFUSED DISPUTE ON WEST COAST [by TELEGRAPH . correspondent] GRETMOrXH, Sunday There was' a general stoppage of work on "West Coast gold dredges today, following the decision at the annual meeting of the Dredge Workers' Union yesterday to oppose Sunday work. The men fire expected- to be working as usual to-morrow. The union works a'4B-hour week, and Sunday work brings the total to from 52 to 5S hours. The men state that, as in other industries employees are paid time and a-lialf and double time on Saturdays, they should be entitled to double or treble time for Sundays.
